I forgot about this one. 3 years ago the truck was treated to some new suspension, the old tired springs were sagging low and the cheap get-me-through-the-MOT shocks were, well, shocking.
The Old Man Emu +2″ kit seemed to be getting the best reviews, a good compromised of quality, cost and performance. A modest lift, but I had no plans to go bigger on tyres so the bigger +4.5″ kit was a bit overkill. And afterall, long distance comfort was my main priority, with some form of fuel economy a close second.
Shiny and yellow, lovely.
The old kit came off alarmingly easy, once the body was jacked high enough.
Fitting the new stuff however, was not so simple. Multiple jacks supporting the truck and forcing the axle lower and chassis higher finally got the job done.
And a new steering damper included in the kit as well.
A test run showed what a big difference quality shocks and springs make. The truck is a real pleasure to drive, less jarring, much more compliant over uneven surfaces and less rattles inside!
